Welcome to the Designers’ Lounge
A new monthly event series designed to make networking, troubleshooting and the exchange of ideas more accessible to LDI members, regardless of geographical location.
The Landscape Design Institute is proud to announce a new monthly online gathering created to help members connect, share ideas and talk openly about what’s happening in their practice, their business and the broader industry.
Think of it as a catch-up conversation you might have with colleagues at an industry event: informal, engaging and full of shared experiences and insights.
Each month, the Lounge will explore a different topic relevant to landscape designers and our ever-changing industry. Guided by a host, the discussion will be open, relaxed and respectful, giving members the opportunity to ask questions, exchange perspectives and learn from one another.
The Designers’ Lounge is designed to complement, not replace, LDI’s valuable in-person Round Tables. By meeting online, we offer another way for members from across Australia to participate, particularly those who may find it difficult to attend events in person.
Attendance is limited to just 30 members so that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the conversation. Participants will also be invited to suggest topics for future sessions, helping the series evolve around the interests and needs of our members.
Join us for the first Designers’ Lounge on Friday 21 August 2026, 12 noon AEST. The first topic will be The rise of Ai & it’s evolution in design, hosted by Jamie Bacon –Director of Temple Outdoor and The Primal Green.

About Our Host
Jamie Bacon is a registered landscape designer with over 18 years of experience and is the senior designer and owner of Temple Outdoor and The Primal Green.
His practice has worked across a diverse range of projects, from educational facilities and rural hospitals, to complex, high-end residential landscapes and international concept designs. Their award-winning work includes projects recognised across multiple residential categories in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Landscape Queensland awards, as well as the 2023 HIA Queensland Outdoor Space of the Year.
Jamie takes a strong systems-based approach to design, with particular expertise in 3D design and landscape architectural visualisation. His work spans traditional rendering platforms and emerging AI technologies.
Jamie is also a member of LDI’s Documentation Committee, a musician and a father of four.
